Leave a Legacy
A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
As Christians, we know that ‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but his Word will live forever.’
When we bid our final farewells, ideally, we should not leave unfinished business behind us. Making a Will is a very personal matter, and it is important that you consider any implications carefully.
After having made adequate provision for your immediate family, you may give thought to leaving a charitable gift for your Christian media ministry.
If you believe it is important for future generations to be able to hear the good news of a life-saving relationship with Jesus Christ through Christian media, by naming Rhema Media Inc. in your Will now, you will help make sure that your Christian media ministry stays strong into the future.
Our commitment to you ... If you are considering leaving a gift in your Will to Rhema Media Inc., we commit to carefully and prayerfully use your gift to draw New Zealanders into an increasingly meaningful, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through media.
Gifts from Wills are invested so they continue to grow and provide for capital needs of the ministry, like the radio frequency licence renewals in 2031. A gift in your Will will make an enduring difference in keeping your Christian media ministry strong and positively impacting lives in the name of Jesus Christ.
If you would like to discuss leaving a bequest, gift or donation, or you would like further information, please contact us.
Yours in his service,
Luke Weston
Chief Executive
WHY CHOOSE RHEMA MEDIA INC?
In 1961, God gave founder Richard Berry clear direction to establish Christian radio in New Zealand.
Supported by the three verses God gave to Richard (Matthew 7:7; Matthew 19:26 and John 14:12), it took seventeen years of struggle to get Christian radio on air. The first permanent broadcasting licence was finally granted, and Rhema came on air on the 11th November 1978 in Christchurch.
Since then, God has enabled Rhema Media to become what it is today: with three radio networks (Rhema, Star and Life FM), one television station (Shine), all broadcasting 24 hours a day, plus The Word For Today and Word For You Today daily devotionals (110,000 copies printed quarterly).
God uses your Christian media ministry to reach people and draw them into a new or closer relationship with Jesus Christ. As a result, people’s lives are changed for good, like Rochelle’s:
‘God used Rhema (and other ways) to bring me to him. I was an atheist one year ago and now my life has changed. One morning I started my car, only to find a radio station I’d never heard of. I discovered it was Rhema! From then I listened every day, gathering info and piecing the puzzle together.’
By choosing to leave a gift in your Will to Rhema Media, you are leaving a legacy of hope - a hope that will continue ministering to this nation long into the future.
YOUR WILL LEAVING A PERSONAL LEGACY OF HOPE
As far as you and your family are concerned, your Will could be the most important document you ever sign.
What Is A Will?
A Will is your opportunity to provide instruction as to how you want your possessions to be administered in the event of your death.
Why Do I Need A Will?
A Will gives you the security of knowing that those who depend upon you will be provided for.
A Will may prevent conflict and anxiety amongst family and loved ones.
A Will precisely states your instructions and wishes, so your executors/trustees are better equipped to administer your estate the way you intended.
A Will is also an opportunity to make a final charitable gift that will continue to bless others.
What Should A Will Include?
With a Will it’s your decision - you decide!
Making a Will involves carefully considering all who depend upon you, and how you are going to provide for their needs.
Your Will should name an executor or executors. They are the people who will be responsible for seeing that your instructions are carried out as specified in your Will.
Your Will should provide for payment of your liabilities such as mortgages, overdrafts and debts - even your funeral expenses.
Your Will should make provision for your spouse and any dependants (as well as naming a guardian(s) for your children if they are still young).
Your Will may also include a Bequest, Gift or Donation to be made to specific charitable organisations such as Rhema Media Inc.
Whilst this outlines the main requirements of a Will, it should only be used as a guide. Rhema Media Inc. is not qualified to give legal or financial advice and we would strongly urge you to see a solicitor or a trustee company when you finally decide to make your Will. They will be able to provide you with professional advice.
Your Will Can Change Lives For Good
If You Are About To Make Your Will...
and you would like to include a gift for Rhema Media, the appropriate wording for inclusion in your Will is:
‘I give free of all duties to Rhema Media Inc. the sum of $ ________ * for the general purposes of the society, and I declare that the receipt of the Accountant or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my Trustee(s) for such a gift.’
*Instead of naming a particular amount in dollar terms, you may wish to give a percentage or fraction of your estate, or leave the residue of your estate (after making provision for family and other concerns) to Rhema Media Inc.
Or you can write your Will online today with Safewill. As part of the Rhema Media whānau, there’s an exclusive offer for you. You can write your will online for only $80. That’s 50% off the usual cost. To take advantage of this offer, go to: wills.rhemamedia.co.nz
If You Already Have A Will...
and you would like it altered to include a gift for Rhema Media, then you can add a ‘codicil’ to your Will. This is a separate statement but still part of your Will.
A ‘codicil’ would read much like this:
‘This codicil dated____________is an addition to the Will of me (name in full) of (place of residence). Other provisions contained in my Will are confirmed.
I give to Rhema Media Inc. the sum of $ ________ * for the general purposes of the society.’
*Or, as above, you may wish to state a percentage, a fraction or the residue of your estate.
Wills and codicils must be dated, signed and properly witnessed.
