The Frequency Auction in December 2014 provided a wonderful opportunity for Rhema Media to secure more fm radio frequencies to impact more New Zealanders lives through Christian radio. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us through your prayer and your generous gifts.
While we were hopeful of securing an fm frequency in the main centres of Christchurch and Wellington, bidding on these took them well beyond our reach. The sole Christchurch frequency sold for over $7.8million and the two Wellington frequencies sold for $900,000 and $2million respectively.
Praise God however, we were delighted to be able to secure 25 new fm frequencies in 17 locales across the country. Plus in a subsequent follow up auction in early 2015 we were able to purchase another five frequencies. Combined these frequencies cover the following areas:
· South Canterbury
· South Otago
We are very excited at the prospect of making these frequencies operational. We have a 21 month window in which to commence broadcasting on each of them before the licence becomes void so we will be working hard to find and secure or lease suitable transmission sites and obtain the necessary transmission equipment.
16 of these new frequencies been made operational by late 2015, with the following stations on air:
· Alexandra: Life FM 103.9FM and Star 100.7FM
· Blenheim: Life FM 93.7FM and Rhema 104.1FM
· Gisborne: Rhema 103.7FM
· Kapiti: Rhema 103.9FM
· Rotorua: Life FM 106.3FM
· South Canterbury: Life FM 105.1FM and Rhema 104.3FM
· Taumarunui: Star 95.9FM
· Taupo: Life FM 105.6FM
· Tauranga: Rhema 104.6FM
· Wanaka: Life FM 105FM
· Wanganui: Rhema 104.8FM
· Westport: Life FM 104.5FM and Star 103.7FM
With the launch of these FM frequencies it has also enabled the expanded reach of the Star AM network with the following frequencies being reassigned from Rhema to Star:
· South Canterbury: Star 594AM
· Wanganui: Star 594AM
We will advise in due course the details of each remaining FM frequency and the stations that will be broadcast on each.
We ask that you continue to pray for the successful and efficient implementation of the remaining 14 frequencies that will help more New Zealanders have access to Christian radio and the messages of faith, hope and love that encourage a life-saving personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Thank you again for your support, without you this result would not have been possible.
